About Brendon J. Cannon

Brendon J. Cannon is the Legal and Policy Frameworks Research Associate at the Strathmore Extractives Industry Centre (SEIC) at Strathmore University. He also teaches political science and political economy at Kisii University. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Utah, USA in political science. His research and publications cover a range of issues, including international security, terrorism, oil and gas development and the political economy. He also writes a weekly column, Political Engineering, that explores the intersection of politics and the world of infrastructure and development in the region. His articles have highlighted East African power integration, the impact of the 2015/2016 Kenya Budget on the engineering sector, nuclear power in Kenya, wind and geothermal energy as well as regional cooperation and border disputes.
